Extra cash

((I am not selling anything contrary to my info-mercial tone))
ever wondered how it is possible to give attention to every outstanding bill, have money to have a nice dinner with friends AND save money? yeah, me too. If you're anything like me, you have a bit of extra money in your account every month, and have no idea what to do with it. Do you put it towards debt? save it? spend it? (guilty). Most people see that they have $70ish extra laying in their account and feel the need to put it back to its normal territory, 0, nada, zip, gone.

I wanted to pass along my method of saving-since my dear friend assured me that it was a good idea. The method is simple....almost too simple....and i may even be stating the obvious. Just hear me out.

Its proven-if the money is sitting in your account without direction, it will be spent. It could be spent on things that are responsible such as saving or debt payoff, but the point is, it will be spent. My emphasis is on the saving part. I'm a budget nerd.

I'm sure you have some of these lying around. If not, pick up a pack at the good ole' Dollar Tree.

Write down your saving goals.
paying off a credit card?
cool vacation?
Christmas?
WEDDING?!

Choose a realistic amount of envelopes-three at the max. Don't want to get all craaaaazy. (unless you're super saver)
designate the envelopes with the name of your goal of choice.

Whenever you have some extra cash, just stash it. Disperse your 34 extra dollars into all three envelopes or give 'credit card' all $34. that lucky envelope. Try not to take from it (or count it-kelly) and slowly watch the money pile up.

This is the most important step of the process. hide the envelopes from plain view.

(If you save $5 a week until Christmas next year you could have about $275!)

polaroids

i need your help! I need lots and lots of polaroid 600 film. Considering they come in boxes of 10 exposures, the price ebay lists of $30 is nearly ridiculous!

anyone know of somewhere I can get this for a reasonable price?

All Day Event l Personal

These are the reasons I enjoy Nascar. Most of them have nothing to do with the sport. I love being around people who love each other, people who are passionate and i like it when they say..'start your engines!' oh and for the record, my guy won!

it is important to look nice at all times.

Amy & Micah l Engagement

I shouldn't really blog on fridays because 1) nobody reads them and 2) its friday. Blogs are just things to read to make monday-thursday a little bit less awful. maybe that's just me...

or maybe i just couldn't stand keeping these to myself. We went to the Shirley Plantation on Route 5....got out of the car and started shooting on the dirt road. The decision was made just about that quickly. I have never seen so many men in pickups with shot guns. They were drooling all over Amy (or maybe it was micah?!). These photos are the epitome of what i love to shoot- good sunlight, snazzy coordinated outfits and people in love.

This was also my first engagement session being engaged so it made things extra special.

starting off with a little awkward posing by the fence. worth it? i think yes!

they should probably consider white washin' that there fence.

apparently my lens was VERY dirty but i'll pretend i meant to give it an aged feel.

nick snagged this awesome shot--i think i will keep him!

this one is probably my favorite. tough choice, though.

we'll end things with a canvas they painted with their wedding date
June 5, 2010. Can't wait to see her details. it will be a magnificent wedding!

How it happened

Since I'm sure you are dying to know, I will tell you the story of our engagement. It's one of my favorites :) Nick and I have these really cool friends-Wendy & Todd. You may remember their session from a few weeks ago.

Anywho, their wedding was set for November 1, 2009 in Corolla, NC. Wendy had asked me to take her bridal portraits the day of her wedding so Nick and I ventured down to North Carolina for a fun weekend. I get bored in the car, thus pictures of many odd things.

Wendy and Todd's wedding was on a very special day! You see, it is also Nick and I's one year anniversary. November 1, 2008 we went to a bonfire with some friends and that night he asked me to be his princess. Seriously, how could I say no to that!?

He treated me to a lovely dinner right on the water...

then we went on to the PARTY for some harrison style celebratin'.

we did some sleepin, plannin and prayin and woke up early the next morning for wendy to rock her dress. mmm steamy!

Nick and I then ventured into nags head to do some shopping and to grab a bite before their ceremony. On our way back to the ceremony, we encountered some bridesmaid dress problems but God had a handle on nick's plans and let them work themselves out. He took me to Milepost 6 for us to see the pier and walk on the beach. I certainly do love a good pier.

I thought to myself, how sweet, someone carved their name! I snapped this picture, turned around to show nick and he was on one knee with a shiny ring. He said will you marry me and I swooned..there you have it. fiance's!

as my friend holly called this....cryface. bam!

and the handsome fiance'

And there you have it folks, my dream come true :)
