I am not dead l Personal

Sorry for the lack of posting lately, I've been dealing with a heavy case of life :) I'm facing quite a few changes and I'm looking at them all with new eyes. Today is Day 1 of working full time as a photographer, no more law firm work. That means I can focus all of my attention to answering your emails, blogging more efficiently and not being limited to the weekends for sessions. (thank the Lord!)

Another change I'm facing is that I am recently single. Not to get severely personal, just felt I should share this. I thought I had my life figured out but God gave me a good shake and asked me to follow Him. At first I was very reluctant to let this part of my life go, but now I'm dropping everything and holding tightly to His hand. There is no safer place. I am confident in His plans and with the constant support of my family and friends, I will come out of this stronger and more compassionate. I say this from the bottom of my heart, if there is something you're holding back from the Lord, face it. Don't let another day go by with an apathetic heart. Give in to His will and don't be afraid to try something new. Bondage can be a crippling thing but in your broken state is where Christ will mold you into who He designed you to be. I'm sorry for the preachy voice, I'm just burdened to share that. Don't be afraid to love with an open heart! I truly appreciate your prayers. To say that I feel loved is an understatement.

On a lighter note, my camera has been hard at work lately. My wrists are aching to prove it! Here's a few photos of what I've been working on.

April & John l Engaged Part II

I don't think I need to say anything other than I really love cupcakes.

Kind of a different pose for me, but I like it I think.

The light in this alley was perfect. I could have shot there all day :)

No John, we most definitely did NOT stick April's engagement ring in the cupcake..... ;) Thanks for a wonderful session you two. Can't wait for May 16!

Brittney & Josh l Engagement

Brittney & Josh are getting married September 18 of this year and wanted some photos done for the newspaper. We met up for a mini session in downtown Petersburg since that's where their wedding Reception is. Looking forward to shooting their wedding :)

trying to remember to do my serious standard poses in with my other scatterbrained pose ideas...

Kris & Nick l Engaged

baha. gotcha. its our turn!

Nick's sister, Sarah, is a photographer and snapped these photos for us while her and dustin were home for Christmas. Please excuse the poor facebook quality, I forgot to burn them onto a separate CD. Shame on me...

The Johnson's...almost l Engagement

I get chilly just looking at these photos. Shunta' was definitely the bravest out of us all wearing that adorable dress. She doesn't even look even the smallest bit cold....very deceiving.

This couple was awesome and let me venture into their romantic side. We went out on New Years to make sure the Christmas lights were still up...they make Richmond look magical. Here are a few of my favorites.

they are so cute :)

This one has definitely been a crowd pleaser amongst her friends.

April 3rd will be here before we know it. Bridals to come soon!

Rudy & Sarah l Engagement

I just love these two. Sarah was fun and free and Rudy looked at her like that's where he belonged. The light was absolutely beautiful which made for some pretty unique sun flare. I have learned, however, that not everyone enjoys sun flare in their photos ;) I'm looking forward to their wedding on January 23rd and also to bringing on a new assistant. yay katelyn! ps. congrats on the recent engagement!

this is one of those times where I just couldn't decide...

well....we were on a plantation.

God saying hello :)

pssssst...does this location look familiar? I hope not! Nick and I drove through lots of deep potholes and dirt roads to find it. It's the same location as Amy & Micah and Tiffany & family! Local photogs & brides, check out Shirley Plantation.
